1. Architect Profile - Scott Carpenter
On the verandah of his Architecture
studio in the Australian beachside town of Casuarina, in Northern
New South Wales, Scott Carpenter gestures towards the surrounding
‘timeless beach homes’ which showcase the work
of some of Australia’s leading residential Architects.
“I’m privileged and proud to be involved in a
built environment dominated by so many award winning Architects”
says Scott.
It is a pleasant surprise to come across such stunningly designed
homes nestled amongst the natural coastal environment. Caring
for his surroundings is obviously important to Scott and the
Casuarina Township has been an integral part of Scott’s
short but remarkable career to date. The surrounding homes
are a testament to his intuitive talent and provide clues
as to his strong affinity for the environment.

2. New Product – Trimtek®
Roof Panel
Following the success of the Ritek® Custom Roof Panel,
Ritek Building Solutions is about to release the Trimtek® Roof
Panel, a lightweight roof panel designed to meet the need for height
restrictions in construction, by achieving a 2 degree roof pitch.
Like the current Ritek® Custom Roof Panel, the new Trimtek®
Roof Panel has the durability of steel, is quick and easy to install,
is fully customisable and can achieve spans up to 8 metres.
The Trimtek® Roof Panel is ideal for multi-storey residential,
commercial and industrial applications. Architects will like the
flexibility of the new low pitch and the choice of the full range
of COLORBOND® colours. Builders will benefit from the quick
and easy installation of the panel and the flexibility that the
lightweight Trimtek® Roof Panel can provide.

3. Review of the Award Season
With the award season coming to a close, the Ritek®
Custom Roof Panel was a clear winner for our award winning clients
in 2008:
The $1.3 million Berry Recreation
Hall in New South Wales, designed by Allen Jack+Cottier Architecture
for the New South Wales Department of Sport and Recreation
won both the Blacket Prize and the Public Architecture Award
at the 2008 Australian Institute of Architect’s NSW
Chapter Awards. Project architects were Michael Heenan and
John Whittingham.

The Gold Coast’s Eco Village
at Currumbin, was acknowledged as world leader in ecologically
sustainable development taking out the highest honour in the
world real estate Environmental Development category at the
International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) Prix d’Excellence
Awards in the Netherland’s. ‘The Living Laboratory
Home’ - Lot 220 designed by Will Collins of Will Collins
Design, was awarded the HIA Australian GreenSmart Building
of the year as well as the HIA Northern Rivers/Gold Coast’s
Most Sustainable Home.
