1. Ritek® Launches New ecotek® Roof
Panel

The new Ritek ecotek® Roof
Panel is engineered to meet height restrictions in construction
and is suitable for a 2 degree pitched roof. This will enable
you to minimise the impact on the environment by reducing
the height of the building, which could allow the addition
of an extra floor OR providing additional height to a ceiling
which will enhance any living space.
ecotek® offers excellent thermal comfort and is ready
for the Queensland State Government’s new five star
energy and sustainability requirements. For all orders over
100m2 placed before 15th March 2009, Ritek® is offering
a 5% DISCOUNT PLUS FREE DRAFTING. |

2. ecotek® Roof Panel Contributes
to Low Carbon Footprint for Kingaroy Crematorium
Ritek® Building Solutions
has supplied 1,670m2 of their new ecotek® Roof Panel to
top off the new $3.4m Kingaroy Crematorium facility in Queensland.
The ecotek® Roof Panel is contributing towards the low
carbon footprint for the new Kingaroy facility, by providing
excellent insulation, high thermal values (of R3.73 in this
case - for a 150mm panel) and an amazing water harvesting
capability.
The new low pitched roof product is being launched this month,
as part of Ritek’s increasing range of innovative roof
solutions. Comprising a Trimdeck profile upper sheet, EPS
insulation and a corrugated bottom sheet all-in-one product,
its composite concept is attracting high levels of attention
both in Australia and abroad. |

The builder for the project, Joseph Conti, Director of Symphony
Homes, was impressed with Ritek’s latest roof offering, stating
“I believe the biggest savings when using this new product,
will be realised towards the end of the project. This is when the
project removes trades usually associated with traditional roof
truss construction such as roof fixers who install trusses, plasterers,
painters and insulation installers.” >
Contact us now to discuss your upcoming projects.
The new roof panel is engineered to meet height restrictions
in construction, suitable for a 2o pitched roof which allows designers
the flexibility to either raise the roof, providing maximum interior
height or alternatively to allow designers the option of adding
an additional floor level.
The project has been ongoing for over three years and Architect
Paolo Denti of John Mainwaring’s architecture firm ‘JMA
Architects’ said, ”The client’s brief was for
a single level building that was functional, provided some volume
in the chapel as well as intimacy in the more private and personal
spaces; insulation and practicality were chief considerations during
the design process. A strict time frame and budget considerations
meant that anything which would improve the timeline during the
construction phase would be beneficial to the bottom line. The main
aesthetic considerations of the building was the relationship of
it to the surrounding site and conceptualizing the 900m2 main roof
as the continuation of the ground plane itself . With the choice
of ‘Pale Eucalypt colorbond’ on both upper and underside
and the low pitch the design should blend in to the environment,
satisfy its varied functions , ranging from the contemplative to
almost industrial use, while at the same time retaining a dignified
human aspect.”
The building has a ‘flat’ roof and the benefits of the
ecotek®Roof Panel including the 2o roof pitch capability (3o
used on this project) and the 6.7 meter unsupported spans meant
savings for both the project and the environment, as materials were
reduced. Another tangible benefit of ecotek® is that it has
over ten times higher water carrying capacity than Ritek’s
Custom Panel Roof, and the whole roof area is being used to harvest
water into a 37,000 litre holding tank, to store water for use throughout
the building including potable drinking water as well as sufficient
water for use in the case of a bush fire.
Our experienced team provided the architect and his client with
a complete roofing solution with custom flashings. Contact
one of our experienced sales team today to see how ecotek can add
to your next projects bottom line.
3. Are you comparing apples
with apples when choosing a roofing system?
A good roof isn’t optional
- it’s a necessity! And while a roof can be one of the
highest capital expenditure items in your project's budget,
it is also one that can make or break your building (both
aesthetically and functionally).
Many factors assure not only the success of a building project,
but the long-term return on investment. Because no two buildings
are alike, no two will require the exact same roofing system
- it all comes down to what the building's function is, the
geographic region and climate and when and where the project
is to be constructed.
When comparing a tradtitional style trussed roof or raked
ceiling to Ritek's eco-innovative building products, have
you looked at ALL the facts? If you are only looking at the
m2 only rate, then you are not looking at the big picture!
|
|
 |
In order to compare apples to apples, you need to consider the
'whole structure' at design stage, when comparing traditional
roofing systems to Ritek's. Consider each of the following areas
of savings:
Ritek's superior span capability of up to 9.2 metres will reduce
the amount of supports required such as posts, battons and beams;
Reduce transport costs and greenhouse gas emissions. Two truck
loads of prefabricated panels can replace around 4 to 5 truck
loads of trusses, insulation, timber, plaster, paints, fascias,
wire and fittings etc;
For Builders: The Roof will go on quicker (by around 8 days
or more), so progress payment can be received faster;
Saving on preliminaries due to the Thermal technology that reduces
the operational costs of cooling and heating for the end user
over the life of the building;
Quick and easy installtion will provide additional savings of
around 2 weeks rental expense for first home-owners;
Faster installation also means that project builders will save
two weeks on every house, increasing their construction bottom
line - and allowing them to cycle through more projects.
When comparing the savings above, the work you do here will go
a long way in determining the full investment value of your next
project's roofing system.
But don't just take our word for it. Ritek® has engaged an independent
Quantity Surveyor (Asset Economics) to prepare a cost analysis
for a Skillion Style Roof for a residential home, which compares
the Ritek Custom Roof Panel to traditional truss style roofs and
raked celing. The result is clear. When designing a new home using
our roofing solutions, our roof can be the same cost or less than
a tradtional trussed style roof or raked celing.

This roof has been the subject of strict CSIRO testing at Port Fairy,
one of the most aggressive coastal environments in Australia.
Historically to obtain any sort of warranty in a severe marine environment,
stainless steel products are specified. Now with Colorcoat HPS200®,
if you choose to live near the ocean or want a shelter near a chlorine
swimming pool or any other corrosive environment, Fielders will
provide you with a 15 year warranty.
And to top it off, you will pay less than half the price of stainless
steel. No matter how close you build near the ocean or other corrosive
environments, Ritek's got you covered with the new HPS200®!

The Gold Coast’s Eco Village at Currumbin, was acknowledged
as world leader in ecologically sustainable development 2008 by
the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) Prix d’Excellence
Awards in the Netherland’s.
One of the Eco Village's homes, ‘The Living Laboratory
Home', was also awarded the HIA National GreenSmart Building of
the year. Designed by Will Collins of Will Collins Design, the
roof used in the award winning building was Ritek's eco-innovative
Custom Roof Panel.
When designing the sales office in the final stage of their land
release "The Highlands", Will has again chosen Ritek's
Custom Roof Panel. He has designed the buildng for dissassembly
with the materials to be re-used into the new resident's homes
in the Eco Village. Will said, "We wanted a slim top roofing
system which had a heatlthy insulation value and a degree of portabililty
and demountability, which in turn adds up to recyclability. This
is an important part of the Eco Village ethos".
The project is due for completion in the next few weeks, so we
will keep you updated as to the progress in a future edition of
our newsletter.
The Eco Village is offering an 'Eco-Easy Sustainability' promotional
package valued at $50,000 on their latest Highland's release lots.
The $50K rebate can go directly towards the design of any eco-home,
on sustainability items such as building materials (such as a
Ritek® Roof), water tanks, solar panels, etc. Visit their
website for more details www.theecovillage.com.au
